Debra is an active member of various food, seafood and hospitality industry bodies including being a Director of Seafood Experience Australia. Debra aims to assist in developing an Australian seafood industry brand and strategy, positioning Australian seafood internationally in the premium status it deserves.
Debra's ability to innovate and look beyond the boundaries has seen her company, Ferguson Australia, carve a formidable niche in the competitive Rocklobster supply market - and let to her being named a Telstra Business Women's Award state winner in 2005.
Selected by the Global Food and Wine Magazine, Ferguson Australia was awarded Emerging Food Brand of the Year for demonstrating leadership, innovation, passion and attention to detail in fostering national and international growth. In 2004, Ferguson Fisheries was awarded the Holy Grail of the International seafood industry, the Seafood Prix d'Elite, in Brussels.
It is the attention to quality and detail that culminated in the Ferguson business being chosen to supply seafood for VIP functions at the Athens Olympics.
