The major fishery for the Southern Rock Lobster & Giant King Crab extends along the Southern shores of mainland Australia, and South to the
island of
Tasmania . The cool, unpolluted waters of the Southern Ocean are the site of one of the world’s best commercial fisheries and are recognised as a natural habitat for the Southern Rock Lobster and Giant King Crab.
The Spencer Gulf Fishery has the largest global catch of Western King Prawn (Penaeus Latisulcatus). The average catch is 1800 tonnes to 2000 tonnes annually.
Both regions are renowned for an unspoilt natural beauty that has not been affected by the type of industrial or agricultural pollution that has left a legacy in many other parts of the world.
